WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – A woman has won $2 million after buying a Mega Millions lottery ticket from a Waterloo Walmart. According to the Iowa lottery, Debra Bickle was the lucky winner. She says the prize money has allowed her to move her retirement up by six months. She says she plans to share the prize money with her family and use it to rennovate her home.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A home and garage are damaged after a garage fire Sunday night. Crews were called to the 6500 block of Asbury Lane NE at 7:42 p.m. They arrived to find a garage showing heavy fire. Everyone inside the home managed to safety escape before crews arrived. The fire was extinguished, but there was extensive damage to the garage. The home also suffered damage from the fire and smoke. The cause is under investigation.
LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Linn County Jail has confirmed Logan Kimpton is back in custody after escaping a work release facility Friday. The jail says Kimpton was arrested by Cedar Rapids Police around midnight Friday night. Police dispatch says he was identified by an officer around the 2300 block of C Street SW and was arrested without incident. Court documents show Kimpton signed out of the Larry Nelson Residential Center in Cedar Rapids but never returned. He took an Alford plea for conspiracy to commit a forcible felony last year in connection with the 2024 murder of Melody Hoffman. He was sentenced to serve three years of probation as part of his plea deal. He could face 10 years in prison if he violates probation. Kimpton was not at the scene at the time of her murder…
