Sustain Rockford ‘Fix-It Fair’ set for June 27 to help residents repair items, reduce waste

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford nonprofit is inviting area residents to bring broken household items back to life during a free community repair event later this month, aimed at reducing waste and extending the life of everyday products.

Sustain Rockford announced the upcoming “Fix-It Fair” in a recent social media post, encouraging residents to repair and reuse items instead of throwing them away. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 920 Third Ave. in Rockford.

The fair will connect residents with volunteer “fixers” who will attempt to repair a variety of common household items. Organizers say the goal is to keep usable goods out of landfills while helping people save money and learn basic repair skills…
