City of Erie Increases Enforcement of Youth Curfew Ordinance

The City of Erie is stepping up enforcement of its youth curfew ordinance as part of an effort to keep young people safe during the summer months.

The curfew applies to anyone under the age of 18 and is in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Erie Police say increased curfew patrols are one of several tools being used to help prevent crime and keep juveniles out of potentially dangerous situations during late-night hours.

Police Chief Rick Lorah says the goal is prevention, not punishment.
