New York retailer indicted in Ohio for alleged SNAP fraud

A retailer from Brooklyn, New York, was indicted by the Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office in connection with alleged Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, fraud.

According to a news release from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, the retailer allegedly stole over $640,000 in SNAP benefits from Ohio recipients.

Ohioans receive SNAP benefits through the Ohio Electronic Benefit Transfer, or EBT Card. Several law enforcement agencies have been made aware of “skimmer” devices capturing card numbers and PIN numbers from point-of-sale terminals…
