State will allow Jowonio School to reopen on Tuesday after addressing violations

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Jowonio School, a respected preschool shut down by the state after leaving a sleeping student unsupervised in a van, is scheduled to reopen to students on Tuesday, June 16, the school confirms to NewsChannel 9.

“Following significant progress over the past few days, the OCFS (New York State Office of Children and Family Services) has agreed that the school can re-open tomorrow, June 16,” Board of Directors President Liz Dwyer told NewsChannel 9.

A spokesperson for the state’s Office of Children and Family Services verifies the school’s renewed compliance to NewsChannel 9, writing: “The suspension is lifted thanks to a settlement agreement between OCFS and the Jowonio School.”…
