BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Michael Lawrence Tyler, known by his stage name as Mystikal, is due back in court Tuesday for sentencing in a rape case.
He is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. before Judge Steven Tureau at the 23rd Judicial District Court. Tyler is facing up to 20 years in jail after he pleaded guilty to third-degree rape on Tuesday, March 17.

Tyler, a New Orleans native, was arrested and charged after detectives interviewed a sexual assault victim who was injured in an attack in Ascension Parish in 2022. At the time, he was charged with first-degree rape, domestic abuse battery, strangulation (felony), simple robbery, simple criminal damage to property – $1,000 (misdemeanor), and false imprisonment.
