The Desire Square community center, a long-awaited project to bring more retail and community resources to New Orleans’ historic Desire neighborhood, is on track to be completed later this year after the city’s budget woes threatened to snarl funding for the project.
In a news release Monday, Mayor Helena Moreno’s administration said it plans to use bond proceeds to meet City Hall’s financial obligations to the project and finish construction.
