Leo’s Matthias, Homestead’s Baker top ten at state golf

CARMEL, Ind. (WANE) – Halfway through the 2026 IHSAA boys golf state meet two northeast Indiana natives are in the top ten, as Caden Matthias of Leo sits tied for fifth while Caden Baker of Homestead is tied for seventh after the first round.

Matthias, a senior for the Lions, shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday, while Baker, a senior for HHS, shot a one-over-par 73. Three golfers – Drew Carlson of Center Grove, Alexander Cook of Castle, and Hudson Kutchma of Westview – are tied atop the leaderboard at -4.

In the team standings, Center Grove leads the way after carding a +3 (291) on Tuesday, four shots ahead of second-place Westfield. Locally, Homestead shot a +23 (311) and is eighth, one spot ahead of ninth-place Warsaw at +25 (313)…
