Gowanus Affordable Housing Lottery Has $1,238 Two-Bedroom Apartments

In another affordable housing lottery brought about by the Gowanus rezoning, a new 14-story development on 4th Avenue is offering a handful of truly affordable apartments including five two-bedrooms for $1,238 a month.

Included in the lottery for 282 4th Avenue Apartments are 13 one- and two-bedroom apartments, all rent stabilized and income restricted, 10 of which could be deemed truly affordable. Those are set aside for families earning 40 and 60 percent of the Area Median Income, or between $41,658 and $91,620 a year for households of one to five people, according to the listing.

Of the affordable units, there are five one-bedrooms going for $1,051 and $1,658 a month and five two-bedrooms set at $1,238 a month. The remaining three apartments are aimed at households of one to three people earning 110 of AMI, or $114,549 to $201,520 for households of one to five people. One-bedrooms in this bracket cost $3,177 and two-bedrooms are $3,789 a month.
