Winston-Salem adopts ‘Youth Protection Ordinance,’ in effort to curb late-night ‘teen takeovers’

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — The city of Winston-Salem is taking actions they hope will curb “disruptive behavior” from young people in the city.

The city announced on Tuesday that they were taking “decisive action to address a growing pattern of late-night youth gatherings, ‘teen takeovers,’ and related disruptive behavior that has increased across the city in 2026.”

The Winston-Salem Police Department presented what they call a “Youth Protection ordinance” on June 15 and it was approved by the Winston-Salem City Council…
