Indianapolis airport builds workforce pipeline to alleviate incoming retirements

INDIANAPOLIS — Tracy Guerrero is always looking up. The Purdue University graduate with a master’s degree in aviation management began as an intern at Indianapolis International Airport. In the past 10 years, her career has taken off.

“I’ve had the support and opportunity of leadership of different departments to continue going to a field that I went to school for,” said Guerrero.

Guerrero has worked in multiple positions at IND, the federal code for the airport, landing in her current role as Air Service Manager. Her team is responsible for finding new routes out of Indianapolis, which has included the addition and expansion of Aer Lingus flights to Ireland, more direct domestic flights, and those extra flights during Indiana University’s trip to the Rose Bowl…
