Stephanie Chatfield pleads guilty in nonprofit embezzlement case

LANSING, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — Stephanie Chatfield, the wife of former Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield, pleaded guilty Tuesday to an embezzlement charge tied to a nonprofit organization at the center of a long-running investigation by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

Stephanie Chatfield, 38, of Levering, pleaded guilty in Ingham County Circuit Court to one count of embezzlement from a nonprofit organization involving between $200 and $1,000.

Under a plea agreement, Chatfield will be placed on probation. Prosecutors say the remaining charges against her will be dismissed if she successfully completes the probation term.
