Downtown St. Pete is already home to a thriving arts scene, craft cocktails, and the kind of unsolicited opinions about hot sauce that come with any walkable urban neighborhood. But now, on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, it’s also home to something new: a free, multi-style dance party where absolutely nobody is judging your footwork.
Happy Hoofers Dance Party kicked off June 9 at Green Light Lounge + Kitchen, the bar and venue that sits right next door to the beloved Green Light Cinema at 225 2nd Ave. N. in downtown St. Pete. And before you close this tab in a cold sweat, let’s be clear: no partner required, no experience required, and no cover charge. The only thing you’re spending is the cost of whatever drink you order while you try to remember what your feet are supposed to do. The next edition is on June 23 at 7 pm.
The dance card includes swing, cha-cha, rumba, bachata, merengue, waltz, and more. That’s a lineup so diverse it reads like a UN resolution, except this one actually has a good time attached to it. Whether you’re the sort of person who’s been secretly watching bachata tutorials at 11 pm or someone who firmly believes “the robot” still counts as a dance style, Happy Hoofers is built for you…
