OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha City Council removed a controversial requirement from a new food truck ordinance that would have forced operators to return to a commercial kitchen every 24 hours.
Food truck owner Jeremy McCoy said he saw pushback when he first heard about the ordinance proposed to the city council on May 5.
The proposed ordinance would have required food truck owners like McCoy to return to a licensed commercial kitchen after each day of operation.
McCoy said that the requirement would have added to his already long list of tasks as the owner of his own small business.
“I take the orders. I cook the orders. I prep the orders. I clean. I do everything by myself. So for me to have to run to the commissary kitchen immediately after would be an extreme hassle, man,” McCoy said…
