OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – As streetcar construction continues to disrupt travel in downtown Omaha and the Blackstone district, the Omaha Public Power District is its own additional road work to expand its transmission system.
OPPD says the expansion is needed to supply enough power to accommodate development in Midtown, including the streetcar build. The project will require some lane closures.
Planned route
The rough route would run transmission lines along the Keystone Trail near the creek, out onto Center Road and up into Saddle Creek Road — corridors that neighbors have largely supported.
