Sheriff’s office warns of VA postcard scam

(WJET/WFXP)– The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is warning veterans and their loved ones to be on the lookout for a nationwide scam involving fake postcards offering additional benefits.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office said these postcards are being sent out around the country promoting a fake program called “Veterans Savings Program” offering $185 more in monthly payments, dental and other benefits.

Though the postcards may look real, the sheriff’s office said this is not a legitimate program from the VA and may try to collect personal information or try to get people who receive them to pay for services…
