Intense wave of storms could bring damaging winds, flooding and possibly tornadoes

OHIO — We continue to track the potential of severe weather today into tonight for the entire state of Ohio.

There’s a storm set up that supports instability in the atmosphere for strong/severe storms. A warm front edges into northern Ohio early Wednesday, quickly warming temperatures and rising dew points. This places the Ohio Valley and much of the IL/IN in the “warm sector,” which is the most likely locations to have severe storms today through tonight.

Early afternoon, activity begins in IL/IN first, and presses toward NW/W Ohio by 2-4 p.m. for areas west of I-75. Leading edge of storms could produce embedded tornadoes, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall.

For NW Ohio, there’s a flood watch in place starting at 2 p.m. and lasting through tonight with flash flooding concerns. Heavy rain is expected in a short amount of time; localize flash flooding could develop quickly in these conditions.

Then the main line of storms moves in; this organized wave of storms will bring the biggest impact throughout the state, mostly overnight…
