Axe Handle Car Attack Over Ex-Girlfriend Lands Lakeland Man In Polk County Jail

LAKELAND, Fla. – A 55-year-old Lakeland man is facing a felony charge after authorities say he used an axe handle to smash up a car driven by his girlfriend’s ex.

The incident occurred on June 11th on Caudill Drive in Lakeland. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was driving his mother’s Ford EcoSport when he was confronted by Steven Lee Grimes. Investigators noted that the two men are familiar with one another, as Grimes is currently dating the victim’s ex-girlfriend.
