A man is in custody after a hit-and-run rampage through Culver City in which four pedestrians, who appeared to be intentionally targeted, were injured and a police pursuit ended with a crash that left an officer hurt.
Details are limited, but the incident began with reports of a carjacking at knifepoint in downtown Los Angeles sometime after 7 p.m., according to the Culver City Police Department.
Not long after, Culver City emergency dispatch received at least one 911 call reporting a felony hit-and-run, followed by additional reports of pedestrians nearly being struck by a driver behind the wheel of a white Toyota Corolla. Police then initiated a pursuit of the suspect, who at least briefly, continued in northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway near Slauson Avenue.
