Syracuse city officials conduct housing safety tour

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)– The city of Syracuse is helping residents spot problems in their homes before it’s too late.

Today, on June 16, city officials invited the public inside a vacant Syracuse home for a hands-on lesson about safe, healthy housing.

Peeling paint, broken windows, and even electrical hazards are some of the many problems people learned to identify during the city of Syracuse’s annual Healthy Housing Tour 101.

“It gives us a good opportunity to not only showcase a house that’s available that somebody can hopefully purchase in the future, but also to do our job for today and identify these different hazards and violations that can exist in a home and what they can do to fix them,” said Jake Dishaw, Deputy Commissioner of Code Enforcement and Zoning…
