Cedar Rapids School Board to give principals, building administrators $20K bonus to retire early

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Rapids School Board voted unanimously on Monday on a resolution that will give principals and other eligible building administrators who retire early a $20,000 bonus.

The resolution states that the Supplemental Early Retirement Incentive (SERI) Plan for Building Administrators will only be for eligible retirees before the end of the 2026-2027 school year.

In order to be eligible for SERI, school staff must be at least 55. Additionally, they must have been employed for 20 years as a teacher or building administrator before the retirement date to receive the full $20,000, or had been hired before June 2019 and employed for five years before the retirement date to receive a prorated amount…
