Coast Guard seeking contractors for Birmingham training center

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is inviting local and regional industry partners to explore contract opportunities for the new training center in Birmingham.

According to a release from the USCG, the Coast Guard has released a Request for Information (RFI) to identify “capable parties to provide comprehensive Base Operations Support Services (BOSS).” The BOSS will be for the 192-acre, 60-building TRACEN Birmingham-Southern training center located on the former Birmingham Southern College campus.

Services required include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilities and housing maintenance, such as HVAC; electrical; plumbing
  • Custodial services
  • Grounds maintenance and landscaping
  • Pest control and refuse collection
  • Campus security

The USCG says to provide interested parties with an opportunity to learn more about the requirements and tour the campus, an industry open house will be held on June 24 and 25, 2026 at the TRACEN Birmingham-Southern campus.

The industry open house will offer a valuable forum for potential contractors to understand the scope of the project and ask questions. Both days will cover identical material, so attendees may choose either date.

The RFI is open and responses will be accepted until June 29, 2026. Interested parties are encouraged to review the opportunity and submit their responses through the official System for Award Management (SAM) website. To access the SAM website, you can click or tap here…
