Police chief breaks down which drugs officers find in Oak Grove: Marijuana, heroin, meth, mushrooms

OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – In the past couple of weeks, the Oak Grove Police Department has seized a notable amount and variety of narcotics through different arrests, with the chief of Police sharing recent crime statistics.

Police Chief Victor Lynch presented this information during the June 17 Oak Grove City Council meeting. First, Lynch detailed the amount of narcotics that were recently seized in the city stemming from multiple, unrelated arrests since the last council meeting on June 2.

  • 5.8 pounds of marijuana
  • 36 grams of heroin
  • 15 mushroom plants
  • 23 bars of Xanax
  • 2.1 grams of fentanyl
  • 5.4 ounces of cocaine
  • 8.5 ounces of meth
  • 3.5 ounces of unknown drugs
  • Nearly 250 miscellanous pills

“If you think it’s not out there, it’s out there. People just have a way of hiding it,” said Lynch about drugs on the streets. Several of the arrests involving drug seizures did result in felony charges.

In the short time period since the last city council meeting, Lynch says officers have also responded to just over two dozen disturbances that required 18.5 hours of total work from police.
