Legislation that would allow county probation officers in Pennsylvania to wear body cameras has passed the state House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support.
The bill, sponsored by state Representative Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, would amend Pennsylvania’s Wiretap Act to specifically permit county probation officers to use body-worn cameras while performing their duties. Under current law, county probation officers are not included in the statute’s language, creating a barrier to the use of the technology.
