Houston-area power outages: CenterPoint map shows latest updates as tropical storm moves in

HOUSTON (CW39) — Heavy rain and strong wind gusts from a developing tropical system are moving across southeastern Texas, bringing the potential for localized property damage and power outages across the greater Houston area.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for several counties in the Houston area through Thursday morning as the system tracks toward the Texas coast. In addition to life-threatening flash flooding, the National Weather Service warns that wind gusts up to 30 mph could down tree limbs and compromise local power lines.

As of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, CenterPoint Energy’s outage tracking tools indicate that more than 3,856 customers are currently without power in the metro footprint…
