NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The City of New Orleans is preparing residents for the inclement weather expected to hit the area.
Jefferson Parish, New Orleans prepare drainage systems ahead of severe weather
City officials are also asking for the public’s help to stay weather aware by:
- Cleaning catch basins
- Not driving through flooded roadways
- Turning around when coming upon a flooded road
- Respecting barricades placed by the New Orleans Police Department in low-lying, flood-prone areas
- Monitor local weather updates
The NOPD is also equipped with high-water vehicles in the event of a rescue.
The WGNO weather team’s latest update showed the development of Tropical Cyclone 1 into Tropical Storm Arthur.
Additional flooding, primary concern for tonight as tropical bands move in
Arthur is expected to bring with it 40 mph winds and inches of rain in parts of the state.
