A tragic flood-related incident claimed the life of one person early Sunday morning after a vehicle was swept away by fast-rising water near Fair Grove.
Emergency responders were dispatched around 4 a.m. on June 14 following reports that a vehicle had been carried off a low-water crossing on Highway CC during flash flooding.
According to the Fair Grove Fire Protection District, two people were inside the vehicle when it became stranded in floodwaters and was pushed downstream by the current. One occupant was able to escape the vehicle and contact emergency services…
