Tesla Driver’s Quick Escape Ends In Arrest After Winter Haven Hit-And-Run

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A minor two-vehicle accident turned into a criminal investigation Wednesday evening after a Winter Haven woman allegedly fled the scene in her Tesla.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hit-and-run call around 6 p.m. on June 17th. According to investigators, a white 2021 Tesla Model Y and a red 2016 Kia Soul sideswiped each other on Cypress Gardens Boulevard near Cypress Gardens Road. While no one was injured in the collision, the driver of the Tesla immediately sped away from the scene.

A female witness who saw the crash wrote down the Tesla’s license plate number. She attempted to follow the fleeing car, but told deputies the Tesla drove away too fast for her to keep up…
