With Juneteenth and Father’s Day landing in the same weekend, the next few days are full of reasons to gather, celebrate and get outside before the summer heat really starts acting like it owns the place.
Across the city, Juneteenth celebrations will stretch across parades, festivals, youth events, block parties, markets and community gatherings, while families also have a chance to slow down for Father’s Day weekend. Add in free outdoor movies, a book launch rooted in local folklore and another Downtown Thursday block party, and there is plenty happening in the city to check out.
Don’t forget, city splash pads are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 23 outdoor city pools open for the summer season beginning Saturday, June 20.
