‘He was still just a kid’: Family of Hoyt Street shooting victim wrestle with loss

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The shooting death of a 16-year-old son, brother, and an expecting father rocked the family who survives him, a family that has experienced tremendous loss in a short span.

Thomas Tomaganuk was shot and killed on Saturday morning, according to his family and police reports. Tomaganuk’s family says they lost Thomas’ mother, four other family members, and their home in the span of a year.

“We lost everything inside of our home,” said Heavanly Tomaganuk. “We lost our mother, and now… we’re losing our brother, and… it’s unimaginable.”…
