HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Daviess County Sheriff Brad Youngman said one person is confirmed dead following an accident involving three vehicles near the intersection of U.S. Highway 60, also known as the Owensboro Bypass and Carter Road.

Sheriff Youngman said another person has sustained critical injuries. The patients were transported by ambulance to an Owensboro hospital.
Officials said an initial investigation shows that a Jeep was in the right lane of U.S. 60 beside aHonda, in the left lane were traveling eastbound when another vehicle attempted to merge ontoThe bypass from the Carter Road on-ramp caused the Jeep and Honda to contact each other.
The collision caused the Honda to lose control, cross the median, and enter the westbound lanes, where it struck a westbound Dodge minivan, resulting in catastrophic damage to both vehicles.

According to Sheriff Youngman, both westbound lanes of Bypass Road were closed but are now back open. The accident remains under investigation…
