A 73-year-old Villager was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated battery after an altercation over dinner left a man covered in blood and needing stitches.
Lucille Ann Chigi was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon at her home at 6209 Osteen Ave. in the Village of Edenfield. When officers arrived at the residence shortly before 3 p.m., they found the male victim standing in the garage with his left arm covered in blood, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. EMS personnel on the scene determined his wounds would require stitches, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The victim told officers he and Chigi were engaged in a verbal altercation when she suddenly “blew up” on him and shoved him into the kitchen. He said he struck several counters on his way to the ground, suffering a lump and laceration on his right hand, as well as a long laceration on his left triceps and another cut near his left elbow.
Chigi told police she was making dinner when the victim inexplicably became angry and got in her face. She admitted to pushing him in the chest, claiming she was defending herself because he was “yelling,” but could not explain how he was otherwise being aggressive. She told officers that “he fell,” adding that the victim was acting that way because he was off his medication…
