29 charged in gang alliance investigation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Federal prosecutors have charged 29 alleged gang members and associates in connection with an extensive racketeering investigation, 12 News has learned.

The suspects are believed to be affiliated with the East Side and Allied Gangs Criminal Enterprise, which has been around since at least 2013, according to court documents obtained by 12 News.

The Enterprise is an alliance between the East Side and Congress gangs, which primarily operated out of Providence, Pawtucket and Central Falls, per those documents…
