Las Cazuelas, the popular San José Mexican restaurant, has quietly opened a new outpost in the city’s southern reaches, bringing its longtime menu closer to neighborhoods around Santa Teresa.
New Outpost in Santa Teresa Square
The new location lists 6039 Snell Avenue as its address and is marked “Now Open” on a freshly launched site for the Snell spot, which includes hours and a full menu. According to the Las Cazuelas Snell site, the restaurant is operating at Santa Teresa Square. Delivery and listing platforms had already flagged the Snell address, including a listing on Uber Eats.
Mayor Celebrates the Arrival
Mayor Matt Mahan boosted the news in a post on X, writing, “Congratulations, Las Cazuelas — save Silvia and me a table!” The quick shout-out casts the opening as a neighborhood win and underscores the restaurant’s multi‑decade presence in San José.

Roots on Race Street
Las Cazuelas’ longtime home is 55 Race Street, where the family operation has been a fixture for decades. The menu and hours for that original location are listed on the restaurant’s main site. You can see the Race Street location and history on the Las Cazuelas main site.
Space Swap and Local Paperwork
Records show that Casa Teresa formerly occupied the Snell storefront. A 2025 county inspection report noted a “for sale” sign in the front window and advised a change-of-ownership process, steps that typically come before a new restaurant opening. Those inspection details appear in a Santa Clara County report, and the switch was also listed in local legal notices last fall. See the inspection report from Santa Clara County Environmental Health and the legal notice in El Observador.
What Diners Can Expect
The Snell menu mirrors staples from the original kitchen, including enchiladas, fajitas, menudo and brunch options, as shown in the restaurant’s menu PDF and the Snell site. The menu PDF and online listings point to breakfast‑through‑dinner service similar to the Race Street operation; see the menu PDF…
