9 displaced after kitchen fire in apartment building on Syracuse’s South Side

Syracuse, N.Y. — Nine people were displaced after a kitchen fire Thursday morning in a three-unit apartment building on Syracuse’s South Side, fire officials said.

Around 8:13 a.m., a person driving by called 911 after smelling and seeing smoke coming from the building at 203 Onondaga Ave., said Deputy Chief Elton Davis, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department.

Fire crews arrived three minutes later and found a kitchen was on fire and began to extinguish it, Davis said…
