Bossier Parish Sheriff makes it easier to become a deputy

BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Those who want to become a deputy for the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office (BPSO) no longer have to live in the parish to apply. Sheriff Julian Whittington suspended the residency requirement beginning June 18, 2026.

According to BPSO, the goal is to expand the applicant pool and provide more opportunities for those interested in a career in public service.

The BPSO is currently hiring commissioned deputies and corrections officers. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to become a corrections officer and at least 21 years old to become a deputy…
