Corvallis crews stop grass fire near assisted living facility

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Corvallis Fire Department put out a grass fire in the 5500 block of West Hills Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Two brush engines, two water tenders and a Battalion Chief responded to the scene. The Battalion Chief found a fire burning in a partially cut field next to an assisted living facility. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and kept it to about a quarter acre. West Hills Road was temporarily closed while crews put out the fire and made sure the area was safe. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Forestry helped at the scene. No one was hurt and no property was damaged…
