Data center moratorium fever grows across North Carolina
Cooling modules operate outside the Google data center in Lenoir, in Caldwell County. The facility was built in 2007 but announced a $1 billion expansion in 2026.
Charlotte just became the latest, and largest, North Carolina community to instate a temporary pause on the development of new data centers.
