Over 50 signed up with law firm following landfill fire in Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Kevin Isern with the law firm Lovell, Isern & Farabough, L.L.P. said their firm has signed over 50 people and sent Tort Claims Notice letters to the city of Amarillo.

Tort Claims are defined as legal requests for compensation due to someone else’s wrongful or negligent actions.

The landfill fire started on May 17 and, the following day, burned surrounding areas of Amarillo, affecting over 50 homes.

Officials with Potter County are set to receive a report from the Office of Emergency Management in relation to the fire and a report of available resources for those affected. Those reports are set to be given during the Potter County Commissioners Meeting on Monday.

According to Isern, the City of Amarillo has not responded to the letters.
