KCI sees 2nd-busiest outbound day ever amid World Cup travel surge

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City International Airport recorded it’s second-busiest outbound travel day in history on Wednesday with nearly 23,500 passengers screened at security, airport officials said.

The total was just 185 travelers short of the airport’s busiest outbound screen day ever, which was May 18, 2025.

Airport leaders said the numbers were fueled in part by World Cup travel, including packed domestic flights as fans headed to their destinations after the Argentina-Algeria match on Tuesday and a charter flight operated by Aerolineas Argentinas…
