CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Police say they’re looking for a man who is believed to have fraudulently cashed a check that had been sent by mail to pay a bill.
The Clarksville Police Department said Thursday that the victim of the crime reported the incident on May 27. They said they mailed the check as a bill payment on May 6, but that it had been “intercepted, altered, and fraudulently cashed” the next day.
The person who allegedly cashed the check identified himself as “Daniel Lee Kirby,” which was the name listed as the payee on the check, police said.
