Storm hazards hit Navassa; vehicle trapped by power lines, tree falls on home

NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) — Emergency crews responded to two weather-related incidents Friday morning, including a vehicle trapped in downed power lines and a large tree that fell onto a home, according to the Navassa Volunteer Fire Department.

The first call was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Cedar Hill Road. Firefighters arriving on scene found a vehicle tangled in power lines that had fallen into the roadway after vegetation brought the lines down.

According to the fire department, two of the vehicle’s three occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle, while the third remained inside until Duke Energy crews arrived. No injuries were reported…
