Brunswick County Schools warns of phishing email sent to student accounts

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Brunswick County Schools is warning families about a phishing scam recently sent to student email accounts.

The message — with the subject line “Brunswick County Schools Opportunities Designed for Students” — promised flexible summer work paying $300 a week. District officials said the email is not legitimate and did not come from Brunswick County Schools or its human resources department.

The email included an “Apply Now” link that opened a Google Form titled “Flexible Work-from-Home Opportunities for Students.” Families and students should not open the link or complete the form…
