BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A delay in shower and t-storm arrival today will cause high heat and humidity to trigger a Heat Advisory.
HEAT AND STORM THREAT TODAY
We expect a late arrival in shower and t-storm chances today. The best rain opportunity may occur during the evening hours and confined mainly to areas north of the interstate corridor.
A Slight Risk (2 out of 4) for flooding exists in large part because of how saturated the ground is. It won’t take much rain to induce flash flood concerns. A Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather is in place along and north of the interstate corridor. One or two storms could become strong causing damaging winds.
With the late arrival of storms, temperatures will have a chance to really heat up this afternoon. Combine that with very high humidity and you have the recipe for a hot and very muggy day. Feels like temperatures will peak between 105°-110° this afternoon. Take heat related precautions today…
