Urbandale Police remind drivers of roundabout rules after increase in crashes

URBANDALE, Iowa — The Urbandale Police Department is offering up another reminder to drivers about the rules of roundabouts in the city after seeing multiple crashes over the last eight months at one roundabout.

The UPD first posted about the roundabout at 142nd Street and Douglas Parkway back in November 2025, noting an uptick in accidents at the location. On Thursday, the UPD said that since its previous post, officers have responded to 11 crashes at the roundabout because some drivers are failing to yield and making turns from the wrong lane.

The UPD provided a graphic to help drivers understand which roundabout exit to use.
