Bruno’s Tavern on Maple Street has been practically an extension of college life for generations of students at nearby Tulane and Loyola universities, with a history going back more than 90 years.
More recently, though, Bruno’s was on the rocks. Its future looked uncertain because of foreclosure proceedings and a stint that saw a convicted fraudster stepping in to run the bar.
