LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Four hikers who got stuck on a cliff overnight were rescued Friday morning by Metro Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel aboard the AIR1 helicopter.
The hikers were not injured, but were off-trail and got lost trying to find their way down near Echo Wall at Mt. Charleston. The area is along the South Loop Trail after a steep section of the trail leading to Echo Overlook.

Rescuers aboard AIR1 located the four hikers around 5 a.m. Friday. They had no overnight provisions, minimal food and water, and just one flashlight. They had become “ledged out” Thursday night, and were stuck in “a steep cliff band,” according to information provided by Metro SAR.
A rescuer was lowered to their location and the hikers were airlifted off the cliff in several trips on Friday morning using “hot seats” — heavy-duty fabric carriers that eliminate the need to use a harness.
