Community unites to celebrate Juneteenth during march through Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — During Indianapolis’ annual Juneteenth celebration, kids joined first responders during a march on College Avenue.

In MLK Jr. Park on the near north side of Indianapolis, Rev. Malachi Walker spoke to a crowd gathered to celebrate the end of slavery in 1865.

“That that piece of history is extremely important to know, and it’s not something that we can just get over or stop thinking about, because it happened, and if we don’t know our history, our history will be repeated, and that part of our history, we don’t need it repeated,” Saint Florian Center counselor Mya Terrell said…
