Federal prosecutors have named 26 alleged gang members in an indictment following a crackdown on gang activities in and around Providence. Those alleged members have been charged with racketeering conspiracy.
The 67-page indictment alleges members of the East Side and Allied Gangs Criminal Enterprise have been committing acts of violence for more than a decade. The allegations include a pattern of murders, attempted murders, gun crimes, and fraud among other criminal conduct.
“The common purpose of the alliance was to protect its members, associates, and allies; to harm and retaliate against their common enemies; and to sustain itself through criminal activities including drug trafficking, robberies, firearms offenses and various forms of fraud,” court records show…
