A Davenport man is facing a felony charge following an alleged domestic assault in Indianola earlier this month.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Indianola Police Department, 21-year-old Joseph Lee Gilligan is charged with domestic abuse assault, impeding air or blood flow causing bodily injury, a Class D felony.
Court documents allege officers were called to investigate a domestic disturbance on June 10th. The victim told police Gilligan became upset after she took an unloaded firearm away from him and then allegedly punched, kicked, and repeatedly threw the victim to the ground. The complaint states Gilligan also allegedly placed his hands around the victim’s throat and choked her while threatening to kill her. The victim reported hearing her shoulder pop during the incident, and officers documented injuries consistent with her account.
